Tour Itinerary

DAY 1: Bucharest / OTP – Sinaia – Brasov: 180 km

The first day will find us traveling north of Vallahia to Sinaia, the house of Romanian royalties for decades. The city was the crown jewel of the Habsburg family, the reason why King Carol I build one of the most beautiful castles, without a doubt, in Europe, Peles Castle. After a tour through the castle will do a quick stop to Sinaia monastery build in the 17th century by one of the most important Romanian noble families: the Cantacuzino.

After lunch will travel to Brasov, where we are going to spend the night as well, a medieval town build on early 1200’s by the Saxon and Hungarian nobility moved here to protect the southern part of the Austrian – Hungarian empire ( Transylvania was for more than 10 centuries a Hungarian colony  at first and colony of the Austrian – Hungarian empire, later on, all the way to 1918 just a bit after the end of WW1).

Dinner at Sergiana one of the most prestigious traditional Romanian restaurants in the area.

DAY 2: Brasov – Bran – Sighisoara: 195 km

The second day we are going to focus on medieval castles and towns. At first Bran Castle, also known as Dracula’s  Castle according to the Irish writer Bram Stoker.

Lunch in Bran village and a quick walk through the souvenir market, then will on our way to Sighisoara, another medieval town founded in 14th century by the Saxon and Sasi nobility. This ladies and gentlemen is the town where in 1431 was born THE LEGEND. We are going to visit the house where Prince Vlad III was born, will walk through the medieval town before dinner at a traditional Romanian restaurant.

DAY 3: Sighisoara – Sibiu: 110 km

On the third day will travel to Sibiu, together with Brasov, were the most important cities on the southern border of the Austrian – Hungarian empire. Is considered the most romantic city in Romania and has, no doubt about it, the most spectacular museum in the whole country, Bruckenthal museum.

The afternoon will be used as a free time to walk and maybe do a little bit of souvenir shopping for your friends and family. The center squares: Small, Middle and Big are the perfect place.

DAY 4: Sibiu – Poenari – Curtea de Arges: 170 km

The fourth day will travel south to Poenari to visit the ruins of Dracula’s Castle. The medieval fortress builds in the 15th century by the king himself on top of a mountain, at 1400 m above the sea level, it was the place where the man himself will retire every so often to rest and gather strength for a battle against his enemy the Ottoman empire.

The afternoon will spend walking through one of the most interesting monasteries on the north part of Vallahia, the place where most of our royalties are buried, Curtea de Arges monastery.

DAY 5: Curtea de Arges – Bucharest: 165 km

Last day Romania, back to the airport.
